Today’s inspired work is a unique chair that is small and foldable. Designed by Blasius Osko and Oliver Deichmann, perfect for small spaces or children rooms. Made out of solid beach and stainless steel components, this lovely chair is great for any home and can easily fit in your current design. Single slats were beaded on ropes to form two hinged surfaces, which could be transformed into a curved 3-dimensional object. Before & After: Mrs. Eunice’s Cooperative Home & Daycare

Made over by the Brazilian television show, Caldeirão, the Eunice family not only has a new garden, but a repaired car, entrepreneurial assistance for the sewing shop that they run out of the top floor of their home and a new business website (Costura Unida)! (Wow for Brazilian TV taking such a holistic approach for a makeover).  And to top it all off, recycled materials were used throughout.

This was not small challenge Dona Eunice, and her husband have been taking care of the neediest in their community for many years.   In addition to taking custody of 27 abandoned children (so this is the family home of 29 people!)  in their poverty stricken neighborhood, they also employ mothers with a sewing cooperative and provide day care facilities for nearby families.  For all th

Winter or not, plants love cold and snow

The leafy green residents of the great Northeast are beginning to ask, “Where are you, winter?”

Many of you are fine with the weather maps the way they are, others of us keep gazing upward just waiting to feel those flakes upon our nose. But it’s the grass, shrubs, trees and perennials that have come to expect and rely on that layer of winter white.

As cold as snow feels, its purpose in the plant world is somewhat ironic. Our plants utilize snow as insulation, moderating the temperature around their buds and roots when the air temperature drops.

Why do our lawns need good snow cover? During the growing season, when we are moseying across our green lawn, the individual grass plants under foot are in active growth.
