A Picnic, Ferry Ride & Scenes from Down Under

G’day lovely girls.  How are you going?

Well it’s Saturday morning here Down Under and we are hotting up for a blistering weekend…that might sound nice to you who are still wrapped in snow and temps that are considerably less than those here…but if you are about to be holed up on a deck, under the Australian sun, with both your old boyfriend and your new boyfriend for about 12 hours straight with a paintbrush well then I reckon you too would be wishing for cooler temps.

Anyway I thought you might like to see our day out for a picnic yesterday.

Mr BC & I have been planning this day for a week or so and there is *nothing I like better to do than get out and about and explore…preferably with a ferry, sea and old buildings involved.  There weren’t too many old buildings involved in this one but I think the scenery made up for that

So after dropping those lovely BC Kiddos at school we packed up the car…

I am not quite sure, how for one of the first times in many years we have gone out without any kids for a day out, we seemed to have more equipment than ever…

We headed up to the Northern end of the beaches, a lovely lovely part of the world…

First off we stopped for Morning Tea in Avalon (well that’s what Mr BC thought we were doing, really I had only one thing in mind – to visit the home boutiques I have heard a lot about up there…um yeah there was nothing that tickled my fancy but there was an op-shop where I had a fabulous score…a heavenly way to start the day…well that’s if you like vintage utensils)

We bought our lunch in Avalon too…Mr BC was talking about lunch in a cafe…but I fancied al fresco on the beach…tide lapping at our feet….baguette, pate, olives, stuffed peppers & Brie…all too easy.

so we made our way to the Palm Beach Ferry

where we intended on crossing over to one of the beaches, only accessible by boat

and spending the afternoon laying on the beach, reading under the shade with the occasional dip in the water…

I love walking down the wharf and looking at all the boats

especially the lonely ones

we rocked up here

with our lunch

we didn’t count on sharing with these…

there were a few pre-historics walking around too, which made it interesting

no I have yet to get used to seeing these things,

normally seen in my old life in zoos or cages, walking around so casually

stunning scenery

beautiful water & the bush

the natives who own the place looking on..

the net?  for the sharks…

later on, the sparkles came out to play

they knew I was coming

and that, my friends, is one of the many reason they call it the Lucky Country

and I love it here…

enjoy the weekend sunshines,

I’ll be painting in the heat

and a little birdie told me there may be some mojitos with lg
