DeskBox Comes Tops On Our Space-Saving Checklist

Those of us living in the tight quarters of apartments are always looking for clever space saving solutions. The best of these solutions should not only be compact, but also be able to keep our odds and ends tidy. DeskBox ticks all the, well, boxes for what we look for in space saving furniture.

This wall-mounted desk is brought to us by Raw Edges. Israeli designers Yael Mar and Shay Akalay established the studio in London after graduating from the Royal College of Art. The desk is made of a metal mount with an interlocking wooden writing surface. At first sight, it seems to be a thick shelf attached to a wall.

New Art Exhibit: Brian Petro

Brian Petro is no stranger to Vastu. As our art director, and resident artist, he works to find amazing art to hang up in our gallery and this exhibit is all from him! Taking pieces from his Supermarket Series and his Roman Series, Brian shows us the broad range of styles hes able to work in.

Supermarket Series

This series incorporates supermarket and bodega window signs (often found in nearby dumpsters), spray paint, polyurethane, oilbar, spray adhesive, and oil paint on sections of wooden doors.

CEA Design a company from Italy is well know for their simple and minimalistic design with a wide range of collection. Recently in one of their project they have introduced a fan called Air Revolution which has got much hype. This is a carbon fiber fan in black which is good for high as well as lower levels. The 3 blades are cut and bent in quite a unique way which forces maximum air downwards, giving maximum reach of air throughout the room.

Carol Gracie’s New Book on Spring Wildflowers — Hear Her in Katonah on Wednesday Evening

After spending much of the last 25 years accompanying her husband, the botanist Scott Mori, on dozens of plant-gathering and scientific missions to exotic tropical locations like French Guiana and the Caribbean island of Saba, naturalist Carol Gracie has decided to return to her first love wildflowers.
